 "Christmas 2006"

It is the season to be Jolly but that seems to become more difficult with each passing year. Somehow we will manage to get there, we always do but the troubling world around us tends to diminish the true meaning of this season!

A war half-a- world away ... crime on the increase in our America ... undocumented people arrested ... nuclear threats increase ... youth gangs run rampant ... iIlegals find porous U.S. borders inviting ... polarization at all-time high in America ... excellence in education decreasing in public schools ... health costs increase ... senior needs grow ... child predator numbers increase -- great Americans pass from the scene -- and the warm, comfortable feel of this season is more difficult to achieve.

We all can recall those early days of our lives when just an item or two in a stocking was more than enough to bring lasting happiness. Yes, we had great food--home-cooked--by loving family amongst a gathering of friends and relatives. When you were a bit older, if you were lucky, you got the only bicycle you ever owned. There was some commercialization of the season in earlier days but nothing to compare with today when Christmas ads began the day after Thanksgiving and spending runs rampant through Christmas Eve.

Despite billions of dollars in bonus money ...sixteen-billion from one Wall Street firm alone...there are thousands upon thousands of youngsters who would not have a Christmas gift were it not for toy drives all over America.

Television stations, radio stations, firemen, many other worthy groups, collect MILLIONS of toys for those needy tots. Those who work and those who give are to be commended. You help keep a semblance of what this season should be.

Through the Internet, tens of thousands of U.S. Military personnel around the world will receive Christmas greetings from concerned Americans. Volunteers will be working to feed the homeless. Numerous good deeds will be performed anonymously.

As we said earlier, it is the season to be Jolly. And if we dig deep enough we can be, in fact we can be downright happy despite all the vastly changing world around us. All it takes is to remember the true meaning of the season...His birthday! Without Him we shudder to think what this world would be!

We hope you have a Merry Christmas and may the New Year be filled with good health and happiness!
