"Clinton Points Finger Again"
It has been a few years since William
Jefferson Clinton
jabbed a deliberate finger toward an ABC-TV reporter and said :"I
did not have sexual relations with that woman.....!" But we saw a similar
irritation and the same pointed finger pierce the air toward Chris
Wallace as he taped an interview with the former President on
Friday. An interview that saw that Clinton finger use on Fox-TV,
shown several times over this past weekend, as Clinton became
irritated by the Wallace question: "Did you do enough to connect the
dots and go after Al-Queda?" Clinton accused Wallace of doing a
"conservative hit job" on him. He defended his actions toward Osama
Bin Laden and Al Qaeda by saying he tried to have bin Laden killed
but was attacked for his efforts by the same people who now
criticize him for not doing enough. Clinton said: " We contracted
with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody
has gotten since!"
The outburst by former president Clinton, could be just another
example of the Democrats grasping for anything that may enhance
their chances of gaining control of the House in the November
elections. Clinton's efforts were not helped by the remarks of
Senator John Kerry who was quoted as saying Clinton's Fox-TV
interview stressed that "the president by his own admission said he
failed, he was leading in a "different atmosphere when people were
not taking Osama bin Laden seriously!" If this statement by Senator
Kerry is true, why weren't President Clinton and his advisors taking
bin Laden seriously? Was he too concerned about fallout from intern-
under-the-desk- training to fully concentrate on such threatening
foreign matters? This thinking has been suggested by some who wonder
why Clinton's eight years of heads-up on a growing problem did not
get more successful attention.
The gaggle of 500 who cover the present White House resident,
according to ABC, think two things will get the central focus and
determine the November election results.
The Clinton outburst will become a paradigm-shifting moment for the
Democrats whom ABC calls the Mommy Party. And the leaking of the
National Intelligence Estimate linking the Iraq War to the failures
of the war on terror a paradigm shift for the Republicans whom ABC
calls the Daddy party.
The leading newspapers of this nation reflect support of both Daddy
and Mommy paradigms if you read more than a few columnists and
reporter's writings. No surprise there, just typical, predictable
material coming from the Gaggle of 500 that try to stay up with what
occupants of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue have done, are doing or will
do!
Which is more likely? Republicans on the Hill will get their act
together and work out their differences on security, budget and
immigration issues before adjournment, or, that, despite all the
hand-wringing of the Gaggle of 500 around President Bush, no real
voters will notice---or care?
FACT: 9/11 happened on President Bush's watch and his reaction to
that deep tragedy has prevented a repeat attack on U.S. soil!
FACT: During his eight years in
office prior to the election of George Bush, Bill Clinton on Fox-TV
last week said : "We contracted with people to kill Bin Laden. I got
closer to killing him than anybody's gotten since!"
This isn't a game of Horse-Shoes....closeness doesn't count!
Only your votes will count and THOSE will decide the November
elections!
