 "Merry Christmas Rules"

As we move closer to December 25, 2005 why are we seeing and hearing more questioning about what we call this season. Have clerks in stores being frequented more now than any other time of the year been ordered to say: "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas"? Are some stores intentionally dropping the use of "Christmas" or "Merry Christmas" in their ads in newspapers or on television? Since when did it become unfashionable to celebrate the day set aside to signify His birth and use his name in calling this the CHRISTmas season?

The last figures I saw revealed more than 80% of the people in America were Christians. Can the majority no longer do what they want to do without some dissident group demanding a change in recognizing a season that has been honored for generations? Eighty-per-cent of three-hundred-million is not a small number and chances are, very few Christians will get up in arms about what any other group --Muslim or others -- do to celebrate their beliefs.

The MAJORITY of Americans should continue their personal preferences---which have nothing to do with being politically-correct and have everything to do with being American- correct. This is the CHRISTMAS Season and that is a CHRISTMAS Tree I have in my living room and those are CHRISTMAS cards we send to our friends and those will be CHRISTMAS gifts I give to my family and loved ones!

Those who do not believe in Christmas, do your thing, believe as you wish and have the right since you are in America! But please, stop trying to change beliefs and traditions that the founding fathers of this country and generations since believe so deeply.

I heard a story recently that may help those who question the season I proudly call the Christmas season. I do not know where the story happened, but a woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable, and after hours of hearing her children asking for everything on their minds, she finally made it to the elevator with her children.

The lady was feeling what so many of us feel during this overly commercialized season. Pressure to attend parties, house-warmings, eat all the holiday food that we do not need, trying to get that perfect gift for each person on our shopping list, making sure we don't forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the elevator. The lady pushed her way inside with her two children and all her shopping bags. When the doors closed, she couldn't stand it anymore and stated out loud: "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot!"

From the back of the crowded elevator, everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond: "Don't worry we already crucified Him." For the rest of the trip down, the elevator was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

This story is just another vivid reminder that this is the time to keep Him--the one more than a quarter-billion people honor--in our every thought, deed, purchase and word. Let His season rule!

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
